Baby Steps & Consistency
If you’re like me, you’re a big dreamer and a big thinker. You’ve got vision galore but get caught up in the how.
This is something I have struggled with for as long as I can remember. I was taught to dream big and go after those dreams. But in reality was never taught how.
I saw money being spent on things to make the dream, but the dream never came true because the details were too challenging.
So what do you do when you have so much to do, and no way to get there.
Take baby steps.
I learned this from none other than the great Travis Crutcher (coach, speaker, and fellow Alpha Initiative Leader).
Travis knows me very well. So well it is quite scary. He has seen me come and go, my flaws and virtues.
What Travis taught me was that in order to accomplish the big dreams, we take small steps, and enjoy the process.
This became reality for me when I confided in Travis how I was struggling with consistency. Consistency in posting for my business, consistency in spending time with family, consistency in my health habits.
I didn’t believe that I was capable of being consistent or disciplined.
So Travis broke it down for me and challenged me to be consistent.
It started as one video a day, no less than one minute. Record and post. He didn’t tell me the purpose for this at the beginning. Just gave me a challenge.
Now 30 days in I have learned I can be consistent. I have learned to be disciplined. And I have learned that those thing we want to do are just one small step away.
So take a minute with what you want to accomplish, break it down into teeny tiny bite sized pieces, and do one small thing to be consistent.
If you’re trying to improve your health…drink a little more water. Eat a little less junk.
Want to improve your finances…save a little money. A dollar a day. Do one small thing to make an extra $100 a week.
Relationship lacking…spend 10 minutes a day with each family member. Say something nice. Share a smile.
It really doesn’t take much. Just start. Start small.
